With leading experts in the field, the Duke Cancer Network is once again collaborating with the Duke Cancer Institute and Duke Heart Center to provide a stimulating education activity focused exclusively on cardio-oncology, an intersection between cardiology and oncology. Using case studies to highlight critical moments in the prevention, screening, assessment, management and follow-up of cancer patients with cardiovascular risk and disease, this program will prepare participants to utilize practical resources to optimize patient care throughout the cancer continuum.
Target Audience:
Cardiologists, primary care providers, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, advanced practice providers and all those who contribute to the care of oncology and cardiology patients
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
- Assess patient risk for developing cardiovascular dysfunction in oncology
- Discuss current guidelines for managing cardiovascular dysfunction in oncology patients
- Describe techniques to prevent cardio-toxicity in patients before, during, and after cancer treatment
- Discuss the future of the cardio-oncology specialty in cancer care
