The demand for cancer care is expected to increase and a shortage of oncologists is also expected to persist. Advanced practice providers (APPs), whose education and training is focused on health promotion, disease prevention, and primary care medical management, will be increasingly used to meet this growing demand for oncology providers. However, there are limited oncology focused APP training programs that fully equip a new provider to provide competent care in this complex area of medicine. As a result, Duke Cancer Network in collaboration with Duke Cancer Institute, have partnered to provide a comprehensive and in-depth, advanced practice provider oncology symposium. Participation in this program will provide a baseline level of knowledge for new oncology APP’s, and increase knowledge and skill of the experienced oncology APP.
Kicking off the CE event will be a keynote by Dr. Jane Gagliardi about Civility in the Workplace and subsequent topics will include:
- Proton Therapy
- Bi Specifics Management
- Cutaneous Malignancy and Dermatology Updates
- CAR-T & TIL
- Oncology Supportive Services: Including Child Life and Nutrition
- Brain and Spine Mets Panel
- Menopause and cancer treatments
- Contrast Enhanced Mammography
